So we went for that super expensive buffet dinner at Starhill. For those of you who have never been to Jogoya, please enter with a nice fat wallet and a big appetite. Skip lunch if you must, cause to make your money worthwhile, you need to eat LOADS.
If you're a fan of raw oysters, sashimi, escargots and scallops, this would be the place to go to. Frankly, it's a little overrated, as the service there isn't great at all. Waitresses that can't speak in English, chefs that don't know how to explain the dish they're cooking for you.. and the layout of the place could be potentially complicated for some. I was there prior to this outing with my family, and as we enjoy scallops, sashimi and oysters, it was worth every penny. But if you're a small eater who can't stand the smell of raw food, Jogoya would be the last place you'd wanna splash RM88++ at.
Anyway here are some pics to do the talking. Sorry they're so huge, I'm too lazy to resize lah :P
Cheryl posing as always.
Some beef thingy.
Jon playing with Butty's coconuts. -_-
A fraction of their wide selection of desserts. The egg tarts were 'yat lau'.
Jon & I auditioning for Colgate's ad. We weren't chosen, of course.
Proceeded to Bangsar when we were all full and happy from the food. Ended up in a bar called D'Haven (dodgy name indeed). I'm not familiar with the bar scene in Malaysia, so all I can tell you is that it's on Telawi 3, a few doors down from Alexis. It's a really pleasant place, but perhaps a little too dark for my liking. Nicely decorated, clean comfortable seats with very sleep-inducing air conditioning. I give it an 8/10.
Had some cocktails & shisha.. and by the end of the night, everyone was a little.. restless. We were lazing around laughing for no apparent reason and talking bad about people. It was a fun night, definitely!
The lovebirds -_-
Dumb & dumber.
Had to take 5 shots or more to perfect this picture. -_-
Jon and his makeshift light saber.
So that was our very rare night out. Unfortunately, Marianne would be leaving in a week's time, so I won't have more nights here with her. Thank goodness she's going to be doing her Bar in London, so the 3 Amanians reunite!
Will be going to Penang over the weekend, will post more when I get back! Till then, keep eating and be merry, and Happy Merdeka guys!
"You should stand up straight so that your tummy won't be so obvious."
"Wahh... your life in UK very good ar? Eat until so round!"
"Why you pick this size?? Cannot lah.. pick one size up!"
"Fat? Exercise more loh. Eat less."
"Wow mei you put on quite a bit of weight huh? *giggle*"
Dear thyroid,
Thanks for putting me through this. I really can't thank you enough. People think it's easy just shedding off the kilos by eating less and exercising more, but what do they know? They should try going hypothyroid and experience for themselves. Everything I've worked for is down the drain, but what can I do? It's you, my dear thyroid, it's you that controls the shape of my body. You are the one that's controlling my life now.
I look into the mirror and hate what I see. I hate it more that people are poking fun at my weight. I don't like going to church on Sundays now, the aunties have too much to say. My racer backs and low riders don't fit anymore.
I'm officially telling you - I surrender. I don't give a crap anymore. I'm eating that maggi goreng in Murni's tonight.
So it was my Jie's 25th birthday, and boy, did she celebrate in style. Loads of people turned up at La Bodega and showered her with all sorts of luxurious gifts. That lucky girl! Assuming she lives to 100, this is her.. silver jubilee?
Jie and I.
We bought her a box of 49 cupcakes from cuppacakes, and they turned out lovely lovely lovely. You guys should try it out, I mean it doesn't taste all that great but it's a beautiful gift for a girl.
Periwinkle cupcakes. Gorgeous aren't they?
Her friends were a little too generous on the drinks, my sis was tipsy in a matter of minutes. Poor girl. Teehee. Cheryl, Ah Goo and Jeng Yean were kind enough to accompany me in the sea of working adults, thanks guys! It was a rather strange affair, but still nice all the same.
Okay lah internet connection is rubbish here so I shan't write so much. Will update soon!
I'm home! And it's good to be home. That horrid humidity that embraces you when you step off the plane, the familiar sight of traffic jams, the multiple scratches I get on my arms from all the pouncing I get from my dogs.. it's good to be home.
Nothing much's been going on. I've been eating, running errands, playing with Cleo, Babe & Pompeii.. life is wonderful when you wake up in the morning not knowing what you're gonna do next. God is good.
It's my sister's 25th birthday celebration tomorrow (Happy birthday Jie-who-does-not-read-blogs-thankfully), and we're having a big celebration in Bangsar! I'll try to take lots of pictures, so you guys can finally understand what I mean when I say I've put on a lot of weight. 6 kgs in 2 months is pretttyyy bad. And I've proven to be biochemically hypothyroid! Oh the joy of pill popping again! :P
Before I go into a mad frenzy before my exams.. (well I should have a long time ago), here's a picture to keep this blog nice and fuzzy. Just in case you don't hear from me again.
I'm sorry I haven't been blogging.. and when I have it's all rubbish. Exams are in a week's time so I'm freaking out big time.
Just a quick one. I wonder if doctors are allowed to practice if they've got a mental disorder. I mean, surely you can practice if you've got a physical illness, as long as it doesn't cause harm to your judgement and skills. But what about mental disorders?
I know people who backstab their friends, act impulsively and sometimes behave rather irrationally. But I think it's just unacceptable if a doctor-to-be has that sort of personality. They say personality disorders cannot be treated. For that, I'm not surprised you're still the way you are.
You make me sick in the stomach. People talk about giving you a second chance, but it's been years now. How on earth could I not have seen through you earlier? And to think I allowed you into my personal life once upon a time. I have great pity for those who are supposedly 'near and dear' to you now. They're slowly dropping off like flies, you know. Even the kindest, gentliest human being I know loudly declared her disgust for you.
I wonder, how do you sleep at night?

Instead of studying, I've been watching movies. I'm such a terrible student. Here's a quick review on what I've seen.
Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Man's Chest
What I liked about it : Johnny Depp never fails you, the movie had a good blend of humour, action and romance.
What I didn't like bout it : Some parts were rather messy, and Keira Knightley, yetch.
Why you should watch it : Because you'll never regret it, and there's gonna be Pirates 3.
The Break-up
Liked : Romantic comedies can never go wrong. And Jennifer Aniston - mama mia!
Didn't like : The ending. The movie creators gave us viewers the chance to decide for ourselves how we would think the finale should be, which was annoying. C'mon! Give us the predictability that should come with such movies!
Why you should watch it : On screen chemistry was great, I never thought anyone could ever replace Brad Pitt in Jen's life, but here you are. Vince Vaughn was wickedly wonderful.
Cars
Liked : I have a soft spot for Pixar movies. This one was excellent, the graphics and storyline. Tony Shalhoub was a perfect voice for Luigi, so was Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen. Michael Schumacher even made an appearance!
Didn't like : How the version Nik downloaded ended 5 minutes before it was supposed to, so we missed quite a chunk of the ending.
Why you should watch it : Childish? Maybe slightly, but it's heart-warming and absolutely fun to watch, especially after a long day. If you follow Formula 1, this would probably remind you of Alonso and Schumacher's fight for victory. And Raikkonen's role as the 'one who always crashes or is always 2nd best'.
Click
Liked : Adam Sandler was excellent, Kate Beckinsale was stunning. The movie can come across as cheesy, but it was a great surprise I actually didn't have anything bad to say about it.
Disliked : Movie quality was pretty bad, no fault of yours, man who downloaded it. And Adam Sandler was too good, I actually cried at some parts of the show. Dammit Adam Sandler! You're supposed to make me laugh!
Why you should watch it : Because this time, Adam Sandler put on a stunning performance, and though a little far-fetched, the story was extremely entertaining. Even if you didn't like the show, you'd love it for Kate Beckinsale.
Okay, tonight's gonna be another movie. To end, here's another gorgeous picture of Kate B. *melts*
